The S.O.D.A. Foundation, Inc.
The S.O.D.A. (Survivors Of Domestic Abuse) Foundation is a resource for women who are in need of monetary assistance to flee an abusive relationship. The Foundation’s mission is to help victims of domestic violence become self-reliant and self-sufficient. A primary factor that prevents women from leaving her abuser is financial security. Sometimes it is a matter of a bus ticket, plane ticket or just a full tank of gas that is required to get her to a safe place. With the shortage of safehouses for women and children, many women who are victims of domestic violence remain in abusive relationships due to not having the financial stability to escape the abuse.
The S.O.D.A. Foundation will provide resources to help women with securing employment, relocation expenses and housing assistance. S.O.D.A. provides support through a network of women who have been impacted by domestic violence. These women will provide ongoing support by staying in contact with the victim until she is settled into a safe environment. The vision of this Foundation is to have S.O.D.A. meetings (referred to as SODA Shops) throughout the country. These meetings will be conducted similar to AA meetings with the same concept where survivors and victims of abuse come together for support and sponsorship. They will include seminars to empower women to become self-sufficient. A victim will be offered Spiritual Renewal Coaching, someone she can call at any time for that immediate support and to uplift her spirit. Whether it’s to help her build up the courage to leave her abuser or to keep her from returning to an abusive relationship, her sponsor will always be there to uplift, motivate and inspire her/him to know they are worthy of living a happy and healthy life.
