Holistic Living
The Practice of Yoga
The practice of yoga unites mind, body and spirit. it also has numerous health benefits i.e., strengthens and tones muscles, improves flexibility, lowers blood pressure and improves respiration, gives you energy and vitality, just to name a few. It is a practice that should be integrated into your health regimen to create balance in all areas of your life.
The key to holistic living is to maintain balance within ourselves, our environment and our relationships with people and things. If you break down the word heal-thy, it reveals two words “Heal” and “Thy” as in “Heal Thy Self” - “Heal Thy Body” - “ Heal Thy Mind” and “ Heal Thy Spirit”. Everything we need to lead healthy lives is provided through Mother Earth. We must learn how to stay grounded in order to maintain complete harmony in every area of our lives. This is achieved by connecting to our mind, body and spirit and to provide the proper nourishment to all three for total wellness. By doing this, everything else in our life flows harmoniously.

A Healthy Body
There is no substitute for a healthy body. Having a healthy body requires the proper nutrition, exercise, the right amount of rest and taking supplements (vitamins or herbs). You would not put soda in the place of gasoline as fuel for your car, so why put foods in your body that can be the cause of long term health issues.
Healthy Eating Tips:
-
Choose foods rich in nutrients
Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, low-fat and fat-free dairy products, and lean meats and fish
-
Eat more whole foods and less processed foods
Whole foods are more a product of nature whereas processed foods are more products of manufacturers
-
Reduce the intake of sugar and salt
(Refrain from using artificial sweeteners)
Sweeten foods with natural sweeteners i.e., honey, agave nectar, stevia, monk fruit
Use more herbs in the place of salt or Himalayan salt which has added health benefits
-
Drink Plenty of Water

The Seven Chakras
The human body has an energy system known as the Seven Chakras that align the spine starting at the base to the crown of the head. They are like spinning wheels of energy, that although cannot be seen by the naked eye, flow through our bodies to create balance and well-being.

A Healthy Spirit
The word “Natural” means existing in a state that has not been altered or was formed by nature. Being in nature helps us to become grounded in our own state of naturalness of who we really are without the titles and labels that we have attached ourselves to (hence the term "Human Nature"). Spending time in nature heightens our senses as we absorb all aspects of the beauty of nature around us. The plants, the animals and the natural resources are a reminder that we are connected to every living thing. We turn to nature when we need to release stress and find peace. Nature is life's' "natural tranquilizer" and it is prescribed to soothe and provide healing to your spirit. We find hope and strength by being in nature. It invigorates, revitalizes and renews our spirit, and it is vital to our health and well-being.
