The Ultimate Dirt Bath

I never thought I would take a bath that already had dirt in the water but this week I did just that! When I woke up Thursday morning and turned my head to the right, I thought someone was at the foot of my bed spinning it 50 miles per hour. This was accompanied by extreme nauseasness. After two days of this, I got myself to a doctor. I was diagnosed with what's called Labrynthitis, an acute inflammation of the inner ear canal, with sypmtoms similar to Vertigo. The blood work revealed my white blood cell count was lower than normal which indicated a viral infection, which caused the inflammation of the labrynth. Since it was a viral infection verses a bacterial infection, it could not be treated with antibiotics. The only treatment was to drink plenty of fluids and rest. I was told not to resume my yoga classes for at least 10 days. Well, that's for people who go home and wait to feel better...not for me!
I immediately began juicing with anti-inflammatory fruits and vegetables, i.e., beets, kale, spinach, celery, apples, ginger and lemons. I had vegetable broth and crackers as my meals and drank lots of water. But I still wanted to draw the virus out of my body faster. I began researching about Bentonite Clay. Although I had heard about it, I had never tried it.
Here's what I learned about this miraculous wonderful clay:
Bentonite is known for its ability to absorb and remove toxins, heavy metals, impurities, and chemicals from the body. It has been used as a natural remedy for the following:
Digestive disturbances like acid reflux, constipation, bloating, gas, etc. (Kaolin clay was common ingredient in medicines like Maalox and Rolaids for years)
Helping with skin and allergy issues
To help provide minerals for the body
To help speed recovery from vomiting and diarrhea
Detoxification
In oral health preparations
Externally for all types of skin problems and to speed healing
I poured one cup of bentonite clay in my bath water and soaked in it for 20 minutes. I made sure my bathtub was filled to capacity to cover my entire body. I drank water before, during and after my bath. The next morning I woke up feeling much much better! After five days of suffering from this disorder, ( 2 days before being diagnosed and 3 days after) I was feeling like myself again! The dizziness and nauseasness completely disappeared. I had cut that 10 days of being out of commission in half. I resumed teaching my yoga classes on day 5.
I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to ingest the clay quite yet, which is safe to do and even more effective than in the bath, but I know it helped remove toxins in my body and speed up the healing process.
This was the "ultimate dirt bath" and I will being taking this dirt bath on a regular basis!
